Father Steve comes to us from St. Anthony Parish in Ambler. Father Steve was the very first seminarian to come here on the field education program of St. Charles Seminary. He taught religion to the kids in our school and visited homebound parishioners. Father Steve hails from St. Pius X Parish in Broomall, Delaware County. He graduated from St. Aloysius Academy in Bryn Mawr and Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield. He is the oldest of three boys, and he was ordained to the priesthood twelve years ago.
We could use a few more volunteers, especially high school students, to help with our young ones during the Liturgy of the Word at the 10:30 Sunday Mass. This is not a weekly commitment and you schedule yourself for when you are available. If you want to talk about it, please give Deacon Jim a call in the Parish Office (215) 673-5177 ext. 28.
There is a need for interested adults and even High School students to be classroom helpers or catechists for the PREP Program. PREP is how the parish helps parents of children in public and charter schools educate their children in the Faith. The time commitment is minimal; but very impactful. Please let Deacon Jim know if you are interested by calling the Parish Office or by email (Deaconjim@StChrisParish.org)
This week we welcome Rev. Mr. August Taglianetti, a transitional deacon who has been assigned to our parish for the summer. You will see him at Mass this summer and you will also see him on Sundays during the year. God willing, he will be ordained to the priesthood next May 16th. Please pray for him and for all young men studying for the priesthood.
Today we are saying Goodbye to our much loved Father Sean English. Father Sean has made a dramatic pastoral contribution to our parish. The parish reception for him will take place after the 10:30 Mass which he will celebrate. He doesn’t leave until Monday, June 17th, but we didn’t want to run into any Father’s Day conflicts. On Father’s Day weekend, Father Sean has the 5 pm vigil Mass on Saturday and the 9 a.m. Mass on Sunday for those of you unable to say goodbye to him this weekend. It is a big loss for our parish. At the same time, I expect him to be pastor of a parish in the very near future. He is one great priest.
